December 1 marked the official kick-off for the Texas Society of CPAs’ (TXCPA) Month of Service. This annual volunteer initiative encourages CPAs across the state to come together and make a difference through service in their local communities. Financial literacy and education are the focus for this year’s outreach efforts, which are predominantly being offered virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The CPA profession is well positioned to provide financial education and guidance to local communities and help Texans secure better financial foundations for the future,” said Jodi Ann Ray, CAE, president and CEO of TXCPA. “That know-how, combined with the profession’s commitment to service, will help us make a difference in communities across the state.”

TXCPA has partnered with several community organizations across Texas to offer a variety of virtual presentations on financial literacy topics throughout the month of December. Several of TXCPA’s 20 local chapters have also partnered with local toy collection charities to donate money-minded toys and books for children.

Additionally, members plan to incorporate financial literacy volunteer service through 2021 and beyond to continue helping Texans build a stronger financial future.

The Texas Society of CPAs is the largest, most influential association of accounting and finance professionals in Texas, dedicated to supporting one another and promoting and protecting the value of the CPA designation. Founded in 1915, the society advances the accounting profession in Texas from influencing policy and regulation, to shaping the perception of CPAs across the state. With 20 local chapters and 28,000 members, TXCPA has one of the largest memberships of any CPA society in the U.S.
